Learning with Love for more than 70 years.
Rabbit Hill is a Christian preschool open to all faiths providing a nurturing environment, emphasizing social and emotional growth. We believe that play is the serious work of the child. Fred Rogers elaborates on this statement by saying “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning.”
Rabbit Hill’s curriculum-based program balances both play and serious learning across all age levels of kindergarten preparedness. Our curriculum follows state standards for early childhood education. The children develop skills in getting along with others, sharing, and being kind. Various educational experiences prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
Each class is led by a teacher plus an aide with twelve to sixteen children per class. The half-day session balances free play and guided group activities, quiet and active times, stories, art, music and movement, and outdoor play. Each of these activities incorporates Language and Literacy Development (reading/literature/writing/speaking and listening), Math, Science, History, Social Studies, Music, Art, Healthy and Safety, and Religion.
Rabbit Hill Nursery School is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Private Academic School and adheres to the general requirements of the PA Department of Education. Our teachers have been certified by the board and are graduates of an approved 4-year college or university with a Pennsylvania teaching certificate in early childhood education.
Our three spacious classrooms are bright and cheery and provide a safe and secure environment for the children. The rooms contain centers and equipment such as housekeeping, sandbox, arts and crafts, puzzles, books, climbing or riding equipment, large trucks, and blocks. We also have a fun-filled enclosed playground that provides additional exercise in mild weather.
